Kraton (sultan) palace

The Royal Place has a museum know popularly as the Kraton Yogyakarta Museum. It is located in the Kraton land. It keeps several items of the heritage from Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwano, including they photographic equipment. There is also a Royal Carriage museum located on the west side of Kraton on Rotowijayan Street. This museum has a collection of all kinds of Palace Carriages including Kiai Garuda Yeksa, Kyai Jaladara, and Kiai Kanjeng Jimat. It was built on 14.000 m2 in Javanese architecture design. Sekaten Fair
Sekaten Fair is a special fair held every year in the North Square of Yogyakarta. This square is located in front of the Sultan Palace. It is usually as the opening event of celebrating the birth of Prophet Mohammad celled Maulid Nabi Day. The fair is held for about a month before the big day of the celebration.
It attract many domestics and foreign tourists. Yogyakarta people and surroundings won’t miss it, especially children. They can shop clothes, household, food, and special souvenirs in a cheap price. They don’t need to bargain like in the traditional market because the price is fixed. They can also enjoy many games such as merry go around, ghost house, mini train, jet casters etc. but don’t forget to bay the entrance fee. It really amuses people every year. They are always waiting for the next Sekaten fair impatiently.
Ø  Tamansari Water Castle
Meaning ‘fragrant garden,’ it was once a most secret part of Kraton as pleasure park of pools and water ways with a tower for overlooking the female bathing pools, the sultan would choose is companion for the evening. It is located near Kraton Palace complex. It was built by Sultan Hamengku Buwono I. It open everyday from 08.00-14.00, tiket Rp. 2.500,- (0274-6643662)

Benteng Vredeburg

Fort Vredeburg
Fort Vredeburg is a fortress built by the Duch in Yogyakarta duringColonial times . It is located in front of Gedung Agung , one of seven presidential palaces  in Indonesia and the Sultan Palace called karton. It was built in 1765 to protect the Dutch governor. It is surrounded by a trench that is still visible.This square-shaped fortress has a watchtower at each of its four corners. In the past, the Dutch troops patrolled frequently on its wall. Ø  Sonobudoyo Museum
Near Kraton Palace, it is the second place to see ceramics from Neolitical Age, original 8 and 9 century, statues, puppet, masks, and wayang to heirlooma and artifacts from Bali, completed after the one in Jakarta.

FUNNY STORIES


  • Free of charge
Soon after Eric was promoted to the third grade of Junior High School, his father was worried about his mark for Physics. Actually he wanted to send his son to join a private lesson for Physics, but he did not have enough money to do so. Then one of his neighbors advised him to send his son to Mr. Jack, a Physics teacher in first his two. Meanwhile more and more students from far places of the region were sent there to join Mr. Jack’s private lesson. One day in March, Mr. Jack had an idea to open two intensive programs. The first program was free of charge program and lasted for one month. If the students thought that the first program beneficial, they could join the second one, but they had to pay fifty thousand rupiahs. The second program would last for two months. Eric who was from a poor family was interested in the first program, but he felt ashamed to say his feeling. “excuse me, sir, because I’m very busy and I have no enough time, I prefer to take the first program only.”
  • Rizal is sick, not absent, Sir
It was Monday morning. All students together with teaching and administration staff had to join a flag ceremony without exception. Rizal who got an accident did not join the flag ceremony. He fell down from his motorcycle. He was being hospitalized at hospital. Meanwhile the flag ceremony was about to start. Mr. Head-master ordered all academic advisors to check their students. Mr. Ifan, one of the academic advisors, checked his class and reported. “Everything is all right, Sir,” Mr. ifan said. “What do you mean?Asked Mr. Head-master. “In my class, there are forty students and nobody is absent, Sir” said Mr. Ifan. Mr. Head-master was very disciplined. He knew the names of the students because there were only three classes in the new school. He went about and said. “that’s all right. Thanks you report, but where is Rizal?” asked Mr. Head-master. Mr. Ifan was silent for a moment and checked again. Immediately he said, “Rizal is sick mot absent, Sir”.
  • Kill the mouse
Johny wants to become a scientist. He spends much of his time on doing a research in his school laboratory. He does his research in the afternoon o Johny’s talent. Five days ago, Johny’s T-shirts were bitten by a mouse. It made Johny very angry and promised to him self that he would kill the mouse, he chased the mouse. Fail, the he bought a mouse trap in a local shop. The result was zero. Then he found another way to stop the mouse. He bought a slice of meat and added with poison. Then he put the trap on the roof. No reaction. The mouse was still about. Johny was really upset. At school laboratory Johny observed some kinds of animals especially a mouse. In his mind, a mouse at his house could run fast, but the one at his school laboratory could not. “All right students, now please observe this animal and the report to us the result of your observation, “ Mr. Ramli told the student. He observed the mouse the reported the result of his observation to his teacher.  The He could mention all parts of the body of the mouse. “Johny, how do you know all parts of the mouse?”. Asked Mr. Ramili. “That’s easy, sir. I kill the mouse. The I cut it into pieces.” johny answered. “oh, my god. You kill the mouse?” asked Mr. Ramili. “Sorry, sir. I hate that mouse,” Johny answered.
